You can now build a book from its sidebar. One add menu covers notes, templates, URLs, sections, and dividers; drag to reorder items, nest sections up to three levels, or drop one item onto another to create a section. Changes write back immediately, so there is no source note to edit and no refresh. Shared links now keep book context. Editing a book’s structure is desktop only; reading, navigating, and sharing work on mobile.
You can now work with a note’s version history through the HackMD API at https://api.hackmd.io/v1. Five operations under /notes/{noteId}/versions list and filter versions, read a saved version’s metadata and content, compare two saved versions or a saved version against current note content as a unified diff, create a named version, and update its metadata.
On free workspaces, content is readable for the 10 most recent versions; older versions still list, marked content-unavailable. Approval workflows, Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools, and hackmd-cli support are not in this release.
Published notes now appear in the HackMD Community, a shared space where public notes are discoverable by topic. Publishing a note sets its Read permission to Everyone (your original setting is restored if you unpublish), while Write permission always stays as you configured it. Notes in Public teams are published by default; switching the team to Private unpublishes them.
